Basics done, lol.
This will be my first entry, and it's a pretty decent one at that. A lot of stuff has happened recently that is pretty important to my character's endgame career.
The first would be organizing my non-HNM Linkshell together in a pretty epic fight again King Vinegarroon.
Yeah, so... About 5 days prior to the fight, there was a maintenance where the servers got shut down. Afterward, I log in to see a Red Mage kiting Vinegarroon around. He dies and more people show up and kill him. Now I have the time of death, so I come back 21 hours later, and watch as it dies again. Rinse repeat, but the next time it's up I get some help from Lifestream (my sky/sea shell) and our group totals about 7 people. Another group claims the monster, and begins to stall for time as their members gather together. Well for lolz we start curing their Ninjas to try and pull enough hate to steal the mob. What we didn't count on is KV's AoEs to do damage to us also.
This group attempts a kill, and they wipe at about 7%, which would have been awesome... if we didn't also wipe at about 7% because of our cure bombs. Well we recover, and it stays up because of the weather, and we get about 17 people down to Altepa to help out, and we wipe at 20% and the mob despawns. Oh well, another 21 hours later, watch it die to another group... and then 21 hours more and the fun begins.
Myself, Liberta(Nin), Kodachikuno(Whm), Eserhk(Brd). Now this is a terrible kite party for just about anything, for the simple reason that it has no form of Gravity at all. But, KV popped about an hour into the window, and Lib ran up and claimed it (ftw) and we started to stall. We had asked our friend Aeneanon to come out and help us kite as Rdm/Nin and we just had to keep it from killing us until then.
Lib's kiting and goes down from a couple bad shots and TP moves, and I voke it and start running. He gets a raise and almost as soon as he gets up, I die. We basically bounced it between two weakened people until Aen showed up to Grav it, then kiting was almost too easy.
Easy enough in fact that Lib was able to kite KV for about an hour and a half while we gathers people from Lifestream, along with some chosen out of shell friends to help us bring this terrible terrible NM down.
The fight started out smoothly, we brought it to 80%... and then go go AoE stun. Almost no damage for the next 15 seconds or so, when finally the CS stuns from our Rdm/Drks started up again and all the melees started chipping away at him. I've never seen an HP bar go down as swiftly as that mob's did. At about 10% the entire Ventrilo server started counting down to 0. And then there it was, right in the treasure pool and all for me:
A much deserved thanks to everyone who came out to help me get this head piece. Just one more step towards making my Samurai the best it can be.
On a less exciting note, I officially am 0/numberhigherthan10 on Bhafflau Remnants NMs. Skirmish Pephredo has been unbelievably reclusive lately. We have seen 2 in the last several runs, and out of those only one even dropped and it was Skadi.
Over winter break I had intended to finish Nin and Brd to 75, however I got lazy and I only took Brd to 71 and never even touched Ninja. It's okay though, because I got up to floor 80 in Nyzul and capped out Samurai merits finally. Plus I want to level Drk so I can have all 3 of the jobs that can wear my new helm.
In terms of gear for my Samurai, I really only need a few more select items. Usukane Feet being one of if not the most important one, and also the bane of my existance. I'd like to snag a pair of Dusk Gloves +1, however these will take a decent amount of farming on my part... and are close in price to Hachiryu Haidate, which I may end up going for instead... because well:
Basically just the sexiest leg piece ever right there. And eventually it would be nice to get a Speed Belt, but that's really just icing on the cake. But after those like 4-5 items I will have nothing left to shoot for except Amanomurakumo. Maybe someday, until then.
